Patch 8 is being downloaded right now. Patch 8.1 is slated to come out within 48 hours.

For me, the best news are the following.

1. Able to recruit from client state/satrap factions. The units are from available unit roster, which means we can even recruit elite units such as Eastern Cataphracts, or Legionaries, I hope.

2. Reduction of settlement numbers required for victory conditions. Finally.

3. Fixes for wall sieges. While they are most welcome and long overdue, one needs to test them and see if it had been noticeably improved.

Long story short, patch 8 and 8.1 are bringing the game few steps closer to how it was originally supposed to be released.

I like the leving of troops from client states/vassals, and the new industry building chains.

Other than that, my current thought is that the updates are either huge, or my internet sucks. It might be a combination of the two.

This is the only one of any significance really and was super annoying to have to conquer practically the entire map. Can anyone clarify how they've changed them exactly?

Otherwise, meh. The main problem with the game isn't the bugs anymore, nor has it been since early October really. I played Shogun 2 the other day and it really is superior in every conceivable way.

Certainly. Rome's Military Victory condition for example, had been reduced to 90 settlement capture, instead of 140. Roughly half the map. Economic Victory settlement requirement is now 65, instead of 90. Cultural Victory province requirement reduced to 28 from 40.

Certain factions such as Epirus still need a cultural majority in 40 provinces to succeed. I suspect it is due to the prevalence of Greek culture in the map.

For the Suebi, you only need to hold 80 settlements instead of 110 and raze or sack 35 settlements instead of 50 to succeed in Military Victory. However, you will need to field 240 units instead of 180 from before. That is of no concern as you can easily reach 240 units by mid game.

When you are in their territory, you gain whatever they can recruit--with a price. The upkeep will be normal; meaning less than mercenary upkeep.

Easiest way to experience it is to start as the Seleucids and see for your self.
